What craft are those? I recognize the Aquila landers, but the ones that look sorta like Fury interceptors look...off, while the big one in the back with a bunch of underslug weapons is unidentifialbe for me. Unless it's a thunderhawk.
Expensive enough they probably cost more than the ship that carries them. Pretty much only the Inquisition has access to them, and then, not regularly. Though the Imperium has never really been good at cost calculations, anyways.
And besides, you can't get any plunder if you blow up the planet.
Perhaps. But the Imperium doesn't see it that way. They imagine manpower to be an infinitely expendable resource... and besides, they want to *keep* the planet. A destroyed planet is (almost) as bad as one captured...
"... And lo, upon the third day the Vengeful Star had reached the Vault of the Sky. From its cavernous belly flew forth the Birds of Thunder, their bodies red like spilt blood, their wings black as night and their tails glowing plumes of white and gold. They descended upon the World, carrying forth the Will of the immortal God-Emperor, and unto the Wicked, delivered His Judgment; by Fire and Lightning..."
They're Furys, actually. And they should be bigger, since the seem to be about the same distance as the Aquilas... the Aquila has a 'mere' 20 meter wingspan, while the Fury can be up to 70 meters in length. It is also basically incapable of atmospheric flight.
